In typical warm, dry, sunny weather in the California desert at La Quinta, the PGA Tour has their traditional first full field event on the mainland, now sponsored by American Express.
It's the first time out for many of the guys who didn't make the trip to Hawaii, the weather and the courses are an easy way to shake of any rust. The Stadium course and the Nicklaus Tournament course are among the easiest on the tour rota.
As I mentioned yesterday there are 5 Canadians this year. David Hearn and Nick Taylor are T15 in a logjam of 24 players on -4 68.

A relatively unknown Californian Brandon Hagy who is playing in place of Jon Rahm opened with -8 64 for a one shot lead heading into today's 2nd round. Due to COVID there are none of the celebrities this year, so the field has been paired in two's.
