With the much needed rain falling early this Saturday morning on Oakmont GC at this 125th US Open, 12 players wrapping up their 2nd rounds at 730 with the Saturday pairings to follow, I must take a moment to pay homage to veteran Aussie, now approaching 45, Adam Scott.

Tiger Woods gives instructions to Adam Scott on July 18, 2001, during the morning practice round for the 130th Open Championship
Completely ignored for the most part by TV this week, this great Aussie is playing in his 24th US Open and an incredible 96th straight major which all began at the 2001 Open, he is topped only by Jack with 146.
Hitting fairways has been the key to 70, 70 140, E T4, just 3 shots behind leader Sam Burns.
Lost in all the Scottie, Rory, Oakmont hoopla, this quiet gentleman, once when single, a heart throb with his female fans around the world, is still swinging it as well as ever in fact in a recent presser he says he feels very confident in his game.
" In the last 6 weeks my game is looking better, I definitely feel more confident than I have this year. It's a long way to go, but I feel my game is good enough to win this thing !"
His best US Open finish was a T10 ten years ago and Hale Irwin at 46 is the oldest, when he won at Medinah in 1990 where I spent the week lodging in a house 2 minutes from the front gate, Irwin needed a 75 foot putt across the 72nd green to tie hard luck journeyman Mike Donald who lost to Irwin in an 18 hole Monday playoff.
Whether or not Scott will need that kind of luck, if he keeps hitting fairways 17/28 and greens 27/36 he may not need it.
With 14 PGA Tour wins and the jewel, the 2013 Masters he had this to say. " I have had a nice career but I think another major would be very self fulfilling before I'm done.
With a late tee time today, hell know what to expect, what a fabulous story we could all share if he wins, and a fitting one for sure.
