Sam Burns /Adam Scott final pair with bad weather forecast at US Open.. Sunday TEE TIMES.

After another US Open marathon day on a wet Oakmont GC, red hot Sam Burns, and evergreen Adam Scott have earned the right to be the final pairing in Sunday's finale.

Tiger Woods gives instructions to Adam Scott on July 18, 2001, during the morning practice round for the 130th Open Championship

***** Please note my weather report below, as more rain, possible TStorms and increased wind  are in the forecast, getting worse as Sunday goes on.

Not much has been made in the coverage I have watched, of the fact Burns had the RBC Canadian Open won last week after a 4th round 62, until he shockingly missed a 5 footer, while Ryan Fox who went on to win it, was waiting to shake his hand on the first playoff hole.

He is in the midst of what the British call a "purple patch" playing his very best golf right now, his 65 on Friday was exceptional.

Adam Scott I mentioned to you,, says he has been playing "very well for the last 6 weeks" and is "confident he has the game right now to win this thing !" He has been driving the ball in the fairways better than anyone which is why he has shot 70 70 67 -3

JJ Spaun despite losing to Rory at the Players in a playoff, is playing great again this week 66 72 69 -3, albeit not a guy who has spent much time in the big boys limelight, in fact he was about to take a day job 2 years ago he was playing so poorly.

Viktor Hovland the little Norwegian dynamo, has been by his own recent admission, "not sure where the ball is going when I hit it right now", however he found some form back in March at the Valspar, and his growing confidence is showing this week 71 68 70 -1 on a much more difficult track.

He and Spaun are the penultimate pairing. Those 4 are the only players under par.

Canadians

Nick Taylor T11 73 71 70 +4

Corey Connors T39 72 74 72 +8  ( hurt his wrist needing medical attention)

Mac Hughes T45 73 72 74 +9

Taylor Pendrith T56 72 72 78 +12.

WEATHER  (More wet turning to threatening weather for Sunday as the day goes on)

Sunday : Morning 20*c,  cloudy with 90% P.O.P, wind 3-4 kph ENE

               Afternoon 24*c risk of TStorms, 60-100% P.O.P wind increasing 7-10kph E

Thoughts

* The USGA may, I say may. move this to split tees on Sunday if their weather forecast threatens to postpone play for any significant amount of time.

* Rory was not himself here in Canada last week, even before he missed the cut and went home. He is not himself this week, much is being made of his demeanor or lack thereof with the media, most unusual for Rory.

"4.5 hours and outa here" is his quote, I wont be surprised to hear he is taking some time away from the merry-go-round before the Open Championship and I really hope all is well at home.
