All 4 Canadians make rainy weekend at US Open ..36 hole results. Saturday TEE TIMES

USGA : US Open Tee Times  Leaderboard

edit ** late Friday afternoon the cut slipped to +7.

Note **** wet weather is in the weekend forecast

Minutes ago Rory McIlroy destroyed the tough 18th hole at Oakmont GC with a soaring 350 yard drive, an stunning approach to 8 feet and then made the putt, the birdie he needed to make this cut at +6, it has been that kind of grinding Saturday at the US Open.

His co-favourite Scottie Scheffler who shot -31 on his home course Craig Ranch to win the Byron Nelson a few weeks ago, had his hands full, making a final bogey on his topsy turvey 71 that finds him  73 71 T26 +4

All four Canadians have played 36 holes here admirably, as such will all be playing the weekend.

Oakmont's par 70,  has just yielded par to 3 players, Sam Burns 72 65 -3, JJ Spaun 66 72 -2, and Viktor Hovland 71 68 -1

Canadians

Taylor Pendrith T23 72 72 +4

Nick Taylor T23  73 71 +4

Mac Hughes T36 73 72 +5

Corey Connors T48 72 74 +6

Corey was a model of consistency all day, but as is life at Oakmont finished bogey, par, double bogey, par, bogey to just make the cut.

WEATHER

Saturday 12am the rain will begin overnight increasing from P.O.P 30% to 90% by 8am. It is forecast to rain steadily until 11pm according to the Weather Network..

Sunday it is scheduled to decrease over night but resume at 60% by 8 am increasing to 90% noon to 6pm with the wind increasing NE 13kph to 20kph all afternoon.

GAME PLAN

Oakmont will remain as tough as ever over this weekend however will all the rain forecast make her more or less difficult, softer for sure, but that means longer and the already criminal rough, wetter, more tangled.

The green speeds will change as well.

Most important the wind, benign all week will be significant on Sunday which definitely will make Oakmont brutally tough.

Several said when asked for a winning score said they would take +4 and just sit in the clubhouse with it.

That's the kind of weekend we have ahead.

Survival of the fittest !!
