Stormy weather, stars struggle to make the cut Chevron Championship in Texas...36 hole leaderboard..

Notice*** The 2nd round of the Chevron Championship was suspended due to darkness. Play will resume round 2 at 7am Saturday with round 3 beginning around 8.45 off #1 and #10 tees.

After 36 holes Chinese golfer Yan Liu 65 72 -7 has a one shot lead in the clubhouse, over a tightly bunched leaderboard with four players next at -6 at the first major of the year the Chevron Championship at The Club at Carlton Woods, in the Woodlands, Texas.

Lindy Duncan 72,66, Sarah Schmelzel 70 68, Mao Saigo 70 68, and Hyo Joo Kim 67 71.

You have to go well down the scoreboard to find some of the star contenders who struggled just to make the cut.

Lydia Ko 73 72, Nelly Korda defending champion, 77 68, Brooke Henderson 72 73, Lilia Vu 71 74, Maja Stark 72 73 are all T46 at +1.

The cut for the top 65 and ties fell at +2

Canadians : Brooke Henderson 72 73 +1, Alena Sharp 72 73 +1 made the cut. Savanah Grewal T109 75 75 +6 missed cut.

WEATHER

Rain had soaked the course on Wednesday, with players being pulled off the course during their practice rounds as storms passed through the Houston area. 

Stormy weather forced suspension of round 1 at 6.25pm local due to dangerous weather. (lightning)

There was spotty showers forecast for much of Friday with play finally being suspended due to darkness.

Saturday the rain has moved out, but the wind will pick up. partly cloudy, warm at 29*c with a steady SE wind up to 17mph gusting to 20mph.

Sunday will be much the same with only a 20% chance of showers.
