DP World Tour : Hainan Classic 2025 Leaderboard
Yesterday I mentioned the very hot, humid air mass that is sitting over the Shenzhen area of SE China, the site of this weeks Hainan Classic, and the thunder and lightning associated with it has postponed play for the day with about half the field still on course during the opening round at the Mission Hills Resort Haikou.

The clubhouse lead at -6 , Haotong Li 66 who was in contention last week, veteran Thai, Kiradech Aphibarnrat 66 and HotelPlanner graduate Norway's Kristoffer Reitan 66.
“Even if the fairways are quite wide you still have to hit a good tee-shot," said Li of the challenge posed by the Blackstone Course - a new venue on the DP World Tour.
"My approach shots were really good today [and] I’ve been holing some putts. Overall, it was just a good day."
Asked about the hot conditions Aphibarnrat said: "Actually, this is really similar with my country. A lot of players have been saying I can take advantage of this but it’s important they know that if it is this hot, I am not (normally) playing golf!"
There are 79 players under par, with play to resume at 7am local time Friday morning.
After missing the cut last week, Aaron Cockerill was out early before the real heat of the day. He was +1 37 with 2 bogey's and a birdie, but rallied coming in -2 34 with birdies and a lone bogey for a -1 71 T44 total, which is in the top half of the field.
He did bogey 2 of the 4 par 5's.

As you can see this weather pattern will get a bit better by Sunday, but the next couple of days are very unsettled.
After this week the tour will return from Asia, for the Turkish Airlines Open on May 8th.
