It's the LPGA first major of the year this week at the The Club at Carlton Woods in the Woodlands complex in Texas, the Chevron Championship you may remember replaced the traditional ANA down in the California desert at Rancho Mirage in 2023.
Nelly Korda won the $1.200,000 first prize last year.
Brooke Henderson holds the course record 64 she set in the 3rd round in 2024, which got her into the final pairing with Korda, but her final round 72 saw her place T3.
It has been a slow start for Brooke this season, with an unusual pair of missed cuts, and other in the rank and file finishes. She did make it to the round of 16 at the T-Mobile in Vegas last month before being knocked out by the eventual winner, Maja Stark.
While her putting stats, normally an achilles heel, have improved, her driving and iron play stats are well off her usual high standards.
She has always played well in this event, I can't remember her missing a cut, and she loves the course so maybe this week will see her back in contention.
I am not pretending to be her psychologist, but it is fair to say that winning breeds winning and builds confidence, so crucial in all walks of life.
She felt that boost T3 here last year, and could certainly use it again to get her back among the elite, where she belongs.
