PGA Tour : Zurich Classic of New Orleans Leaderboard
Yesterday I talked about the importance of foursome play in the final outcome of this 2 man team event down in New Orleans sponsored by Zurich Insurance.
Canadian stalwarts and life long friends since they were teens in Abbotsford, British Columbia, hold the course record in this format, a 63, combined for a second straight 66 T7 at -12.
Hadwin shed some light on their success. " I think the tougher the situation the more this kid thrives, its fun playing alongside him. I think in this format, both of us just dig down a little deeper. Our games are so similar, both think our way around the course the same. We both hit similar distances, its almost like playing your own ball.
We have been very successful in that format. I think if we can shoot a better score in fourball on Saturday and get in the hunt, we will like our chances on Sunday.
They were 2nd here in 2023.
The other Canadian, Adam Svensson and Aussie partner Cam Davis are T16 -11 61 72.
In form American Andrew Novak and partner Ben Griffin joined the Canadians with their own 66 to sit in 2nd place 62 66 -16.
Young rookies Isaiah Salinda an American whose parents are from the Philippines, and Kevin Velo are having a great time, holding down the 36 hole lead 58 69 -17.
The stars of the show, defending champions Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry are a bit behind, T16 64 69 -11 but having a great relaxing week together, you can only imagine these two down to earth lads from Ireland, both legends in their home towns and now in the world of golf, rich beyond their wildest dreams, never needing to lift a finger for the rest of their lives, having taken care of their families, and many friends.
