PGA Tour : Byron Nelson 2025 at TPC Craig Ranch, Texas....TEE TIMES

PGA Tour : The CJ Cup Byron Nelson 2025  Tee Times

Four Canadians make their way down to McKinney, Texas for the annual Byron Nelson now sponsored by CJ Cup.

This sponsor is the Momentous Institute in Dallas who "Work at the heart of education and mental health to help young people and their families live happier healthier lives"

Mac Hughes, Taylor Pendrith, Ben Silverman, Adam Svensson are all in this year's field.

A whole whack of the guys from the Zurich Classic in New Orleans have made the trip to Texas, but in what is an average PGA Tour regular season event the marquee pairing is:

Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth and Si Woo Kim.

According to various reports Scheffler who has a busy 6 week schedule ahead, including the PGA Championship and the Canadian and US Opens, has added this event, which he skipped last year.

Living up to his record setting 2024 is understandably difficult, still the world #1 isn't firing on all cylinders yet this year, so apparently more tournament play is in his agenda prior to the majors.

For all the pairings just click on my Tee Times link above.

DP World Tour : Wrapping up the Asian Swing...Results /rewards

With the DP World Tour taking a one-week break in its Race to Dubai schedule, here is all you need to know at the conclusion of the Asian Swing.

Keita Nakajima-2211958241

Since winning the Japan Golf Tour Organization Order of Merit in 2023 to earn his DP World Tour card, Keita Makajima  has impressed on Golf's Global Tour.

In just his 11th start, he won the Hero Indian Open at the challenging DLF Golf & Country Club, during a remarkable purple patch for his nation on Tour after wins for Rikuya Hoshino and Ryo Hisatsune in the months prior.

And while a second Tour win has since eluded him despite a string of strong performances, he is well placed to emulate his countrymen and earn dual membership status with the PGA TOUR.

He finished second to Richard Mansell at the Porsche Singapore Classic, before again finishing runner-up on his title defense in India to establish a commanding lead at the top of the Swing standings.

A missed cut would come at the Volvo China Open but he bounced back from that disappointment with a T11 at last week's inaugural Hainan Classic to finish top with 835.12 points from the Asian Swing.

In doing so, he secured a spot at the second Major of the year - the US PGA Championship - and climbed to 100th on the Official World Golf Ranking.

Porsche Singapore Classic

Incessant rain resulted in the tournament being reduced to 54 holes.  The final round was full of drama, with Richard Mansell saving his best until last to claim his maiden DP World Tour title, two-putting from over 100 feet for a birdie at the 18th to sign for a closing 66 and finish the tournament on -16, one ahead of early clubhouse leader Nakajima.

Hero Indian Open

A week later, the DP World Tour made the journey to the beautiful yet brutal DLF Golf & Country Club for the Hero Indian Open, only 3 players would break par.

Eugenio Chacarra playing on an invite, the former LIV player held a share of the halfway lead. The 25-year-old Spaniard made a nervous start to his final round, making a double-bogey on the first and a bogey at the third, but he made five birdies in a nine-hole stretch midway through his round to regain control and hold off the chasers down the stretch.

Volvo China Open

Following the Masters, attention switched to the first of back-to-back events in China as Enhance Anting GC played host to the 30th edition of the country's national open.

Ashun Wu emerged from the chasing pack to seal victory after a closing 65, featuring five birdies on his back nine. In doing so, he won the Volvo China Open for the second time - almost a decade to the day since claiming his maiden DP World Tour title on home soil. Having started the week without full playing privileges, he left Shanghai exempt on Tour until the end of next year and in joint-third on the Asian Swing Rankings, behind Nakajima and Chacarra.

Hainan Classic

Held at Mission Hills Haikou, the inaugural Hainan Classic again brought together a mixture of DP World Tour established regulars, rising stars and emerging local talent.

Heading into the final round it was Englishman Marco Penge - the HotelPlanner Tour Number One in 2023 - who shared the lead alongside home hope Bowen Xiao.

Penge produced a hat-trick of birdies at the 12th, 13th and 14th to take charge as he went on to seal a three-shot victory on his 47th Tour start. In doing so, he climbed to the third on the Asian Swing Rankings to join Nakajima and Chacarra in claiming a spot at the US PGA Championship.

What does it mean/ Rewards

As winner of the Asian Swing, Nakajima ensures himself entry into all events in the second phase of the season, the Back 9, and takes home a US$200,000 bonus.

Nakajima, Chacarra and Penge - all winners during the Asian Swing - have earned a spot in the 2025 US PGA Championship as the leading three players from the Swing standings.

Edoardo Molinari, Davis Bryant, Clément Sordet and Wilco Nienaber are likely to have boosted their playing opportunities during the rest of the season.

What's next?

After a six-year absence, the Turkish Airlines Open is back on the DP World Tour schedule and marks the start of the fourth of the season's five Global Swings - the European Swing.

From Regnum Carya in Turkey,  DP World Tour members head stateside for the second men's Major of the season - the U.S. PGA Championship.

Belgian golf will then be put in the spotlight with the Soudal Open, before returning to Austria for the first time since 2021 for the Austrian Alpine Open, followed by the KLM Open in the Netherlands.

After more Major action at the U.S. Open, the Italian Open takes place at Argentario Golf Club in Tuscany, before the Swing reaches a climax at the BMW International Open in Germany.

England's Marco Penge 1st win at Hainan Classic ... Full Results

DP WORLD Tour : Hainan Classic Results

Marco Penge secured his maiden DP World Tour title after signing for a closing 67 to win the 2025 Hainan Classic by three shots.

 Penge

The Englishman started the day in a share of the lead with home favourite Bowen Xiao but found himself one shot behind a charging Sean Crocker as he began the back nine on Sunday.

Penge then produced a timely hat-trick of birdies at the 12th, 13th and 14th to race clear of the chasing pack and wrap up victory on his 47th Tour start.

The 2023 HotelPlanner Tour #1 finished the tournament on -17 after making a total of seven birdies and two bogeys in the final round.

American Crocker finished in a tie for second alongside Norway's Kristoffer Reitan on -14 with Dane Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen another shot further back -13

Penge, who secured his playing rights for this season with a nerveless display at the Genesis Championship in October last year, said: "This obviously means the world to me.

"It's something that I've always dreamt of achieving - winning on our biggest stage.

"After my time off (an enforced break during the winter) it was the thing that I wanted to really prove to myself and prove to everyone, to show what a player I am.

"My caddie, through that time, has been my rock. And my wife and my whole team - I wouldn't be where I am without them. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."

An emotional Penge added: "We spend a lot of time away from home. All of us lads are doing this for our wives, our families, our kids - to be able to say that I've won on the DP World Tour when my son's a little older and kind of be a hero to him...

"I walked to the tee, I watched some videos of him laughing and smiling and it gave me a bit of that inner strength today."

Penge also booked his ticket to the US PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club after coming third on the Asian Swing standings.

Keita Nakajima topped the Rankings after finishing in a tie for 11th at Mission Hills Resort Haikou, while Eugenio Chacarra was second and Penge third, with all three players now heading to the second Major Championship of the year next month.

edit *** A missed cut and a T51  71 71 73 72 -1  may not been what Canada's  Aaron Cockerill had in mind for a fortnight in China but he does return to #116 in the Race to Dubai for his efforts.

Star players missing from three-way tie at Chevron Championship... full 54 hole leaderboard

 LPGA : Chevron Championship  Leaderboard

First this has not been Brooke Henderson T58 or Alena Sharp's T68 week after 54holes at this years Chevron Championship, nor for that matter has it been for most of the LPGA star players.

Brooke  who held the course record with 64 last year and was in the final pairing finishing T3 to Nelly Korda, has seen her game slip since.

In 7 starts this year, 4 cuts made, 1 top 10, low round 65. She has slipped to #42 in the Race to Dubai, and with Nelly Korda world #1, Brooke now has owgr #36.

With a Canadian record 13 wins, and and absolute top 10 trooper in her glittering career, most of 2024 and this year so far has seen all of her stats well below her lofty standards.

After stormy weather in the Houston area, and several weather issues affecting play especially on Thursday she has posted 72 73 75 +4 T58.

The lead is held by a Korean Haeran Ryu 65 74 68 -9 and a Chinese Mao Saigo 70 68 69 -9. (Ryu owgr #12, Saigo owgr #37)

Brooke's Olympic partner, now playing part time on the LPGA Tour, Alena Sharp T68 72 73 77 +6.

With two relatively unknown in North America players leading heading into the final round, the star players except Lexi Thompson are out of contention.

2211995267

Lexi Thompson hits her driver during the second round of the Chevron Championship.

In with a chance on a crowded leaderboard , none of Lindy Grant T3 -8, Sarah Schmelzel T4 -7, Lexi Thompson T6 -6 are in the world top 50, although a Lexi comeback win in America would provide the cinderella story TV would dearly love.

STARS out of contention

Defending champion Nelly Korda #1  T36 E, Lydia Ko #3  T58 +4, Lilia Vu #4  T74 +7, Jin Young Ko #11  T19 -3, Jeeno Thitikul #2 T38 +1.

With Charley Hull #10, Celine Boutier #15, Patty Tavatanakit #25, and Hannah Green #5 all missing the cut, the Sunday final round is wide open.

Chinese star Xiao shares lead with Marco Penge at Hainan Island, China. full 54 hole scoreboard

DP World Tour : Hainan Classic Leaderboard

England's Marco Penge shares the lead with home favourite Bowen Xiao ahead of the final round of the weather-affected Hainan Classic after making two eagles in his third-round 65.

Marco Penge and Bowen Xiao tied at the top at Hainan Classic

Penge, who finished third at last month's Investec South African Open Championship, sat four shots back at the halfway stage but made two eagles, five birdies and a double bogey on Saturday to earn a share of the lead.

Xiao, meanwhile, produced a back-nine birdie blitz to join Penge on -12, following up a birdie at the first with six in seven holes from the tenth in a flawless 65.

New Zealand's Daniel Hillier sits alone in third, one shot back on -11, one ahead of Australia's Elvis Smylie, Englishman Sam Bairstow and Frenchman Martin Couvra all at -10

Penge said: "I started off great. My approach play was really good today. I was hitting it in close early doors.

"I was three under through five and then I tried to take the sixth on and hit driver off the deck, and probably hit one of the worst shots I've ever hit.

"It's a great golf course, obviously it's playing pretty long. I feel like courses like this obviously suit me because I'm a long hitter but you've got to still hit it in play so you can't just stand there and smash it. You've got to hit your shots wisely.

"Just all round, it's great. The greens are really small as well, which is quite uncommon for a long golf course.

"It's just a real out and out test.

Hadwin/Taylor shoot low round of the day at Zurich Classic... 36 hole scoreboard

PGA Tour : Zurich Classic of New Orleans Leaderboard

Yesterday I talked about the importance of foursome play in the final outcome of this 2 man team event down in New Orleans sponsored by Zurich Insurance.

AVONDALE, LOUISIANA - Adam Hadwin & Nick Taylor (Photo by Chris Graythen/Getty Images)

Canadian stalwarts and life long friends since they were teens in Abbotsford, British Columbia, hold the course record in this format, a 63, combined for a second straight 66 T7 at -12.

Hadwin shed some light on their success. " I think the tougher the situation the more this kid thrives, its fun playing alongside him. I think in this format, both of us just dig down a little deeper. Our games are so similar, both think our way around the course the same. We both hit similar distances, its almost like playing your own ball.

We have been very successful in that format. I think if we can shoot a better score in fourball on Saturday and get in the hunt, we will like our chances on Sunday.

They were 2nd here in 2023.

The other Canadian, Adam Svensson and Aussie partner Cam Davis are T16 -11 61 72.

In form American Andrew Novak and partner Ben Griffin joined the Canadians with their own 66 to sit in 2nd place 62 66 -16.

Young rookies Isaiah Salinda an American whose parents are from the Philippines, and Kevin Velo are having a great time, holding down the 36 hole lead 58 69 -17.

The stars of the show, defending champions Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry are a bit behind, T16 64 69 -11  but having a great relaxing week together, you can only imagine these two down to earth lads from Ireland, both legends in their home towns and now in the world of golf, rich beyond their wildest dreams, never needing to lift a finger for the rest of their lives, having taken care of their families, and many friends.
