The Saturday Story: Hughes in Houston, Ames in Phoenix... full scoreboards

PGA Tour. Cadence Bank Houston Open leaderboard  here.

Tony Finau is on an absolute tear, he tied a career low 62, very impressive from tee to green so he's going into the weekend with a 4 shot lead 65 62 -13 on the Memorial Park course at the Cadence Bank Houston Open.

However with cold weather moving into the area the chasing pack can only hope the tall American cools off a bit with it.

Mac Hughes opened with a -4 66, but admitted he didn't have his A game to begin round 2.  "I was all over the lot to begin, just scrambling to make pars, then I found some semblance of a swing in the last six and finished quite nicely with two birdies in three holes. "

He finished with -2 68 and is T8 at -6. Adam Hadwin was better on Friday, with 3 birdies in his last 4 holes for -5 65 and at -5 is T14. Taylor Pendrith is T31  66 72 -2. Adam Svensson T61 73 67 E

Weather delayed play so there was an early start today to finish the second round for  nearly half of the field. The fell at E.

Michael Gligic 69 72 +1 and Nick Taylor 72 72 +4 both missed the cut.

PGA Tour Champions: Charles Schwab Championship leaderboard here

As expected its the Alker/ Harrington show in this season ending Charles Schwab Championship in Phoenix with either one of them eventually winning the season long points race for the Charles Schwab Cup

Alker 65 64 is at -13 heading into the weekend and Paddy Harrington 66 64 -12. Alker, the Kiwi of course must be one of the great stories in golf, after a journeyman career winning on tours around the world until at 50 he Monday qualified for the Senior circuit event in July of 2021 and has gone on to win 5 times including a major and is now the favourite to win it all come Sunday evening.

Meanwhile Stephen Ames is playing nicely, T5 65 68 -9.

LPGA Tour: Pelican Women's Championship leaderboard  here.

With Tropical storm Nicole thrashing the Florida peninsula on Thursday this version  of the Pelican Women's Open was reduced to 54 holes.

On Friday Brooke Henderson returned to play after a few weeks off without her best form needing 33 putts on her way to a 3 bogey, 2 birdie +1 71 so heads into play today T78 which is 9 shots off the lead held by Mexican, Maria Fassi -8 62.

The best of the Canadians is veteran Alena Sharp T23 -2 68. Maude Aimee Leblanc T40 -1 69 and Maddie Szeryk who was a last minute addition off the alternative list is T93 +2 72.
