Hughes, Pendrith a shot off the lead in Houston..Ames leads in Phoenix.. Full scoreboards

PGA Tour:  Cadence Houston Open leaderboard  here.

Mac Hughes and Taylor Pendrith have both began their week at the Cadence Houston Open a shot off the lead with -4 66s.

The other Canadians, Micheal Gligic T38 -1 69, Adam Hawin T 55 E 70, Nick Taylor T87 +2 72 and Adam Svensson T100 +3 73.

Play was suspended by darkness and resumed at 7am this morning with 4 players now in the lead at -5, all the scores are available on my link above.

In his post round interview Hughes had this to say. " This Memorial Park course is yielding a few birdies but is playing tough, pars are good this week. I got off to a nice start off the 10th tee with 3 birdies out in 32, I was swinging nicely, a couple of loose shots. Its the same old story here, fairways and greens and if you can shoot two or three under you can stay in it."

PGA Tour Champions : Charles Schwab Championship leaderboard here

Meanwhile over in Phoenix its the season finale on the SSenior circuit for the season long Charles Schwab Cup. Based on the season's points Kiwi Steve Alker is the favourite to win it all and only Paddy Harrington can catch him, its between those two.

However this weeks Championship itself is up for grabs.

Stephen Ames has opened with a terrific bogey free -6 65, out in -4 with 4 birdies he added two more on his back nine and had this to say: "I hit the ball nicely and my putter got hot a couple of times and thats the whole story. Didn't do anything foolish, kept my ball in play wihich is nice. The greens are fantastic , if you hit the ball on line you can make a lot of putts around here"

Alker and John Huston join Ames atop the leaderboard heading into Fridays play.
