Waste Management Phoenix Open Sunday leaderboard here.
Let there be no mistake Jordan Spieth's 61 on Saturday will be a welcome relief, it was finally his day, but let's not get carried away with the "he's back" nonsense I was hearing yesterday.
He is ranked 123rd in driving accuracy this week and had a few great breaks with tee balls hit into the desert, but his two previous 67's were also a step in the right direction although just average by the low scoring field this week at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
"Today was a good day" were his words, and if he can put up another good score today playing in the final group, and manage to win for the first time in 3 1/2 years, there won't be a more popular result for this nice young man from Texas.
However that is a big "if," he is in the.lead at -18 with a red hot Xander Schauffele 66 64 65 who was 2nd last week at Torrey Pines and has been playing a lot better than Spieth for a long time. It's not easy to follow up a low score of 61, with another one.
" What I'm looking forward to is staying the course, trusting it, I really don't have any expectations on the results tomorrow" were his wise words.
They are 3 shots clear of Scottie Scheffler and Kyoung Hoon Lee who both shot 66 to T3 at -15, with Louis Oosthuizen and Justin Thomas lurking at -14, and Jon Rahm at -13.
Corey Connors (68) is T25 at -8, and Adam Hadwin (73) T61 -3.
