Waste Management Phoenix Open full leaderboard here.
Another lovely sunny day in desert around Scottsdale, Arizona finds Corey Connors (68) and Adam Hadwin (70) T27 at -5 as they head into the weekend at the all green Waste Management Phoenix Open. They are 7 shots behind leader Xander Schauffele 66 64 -12 who was T2 last week at Torrey Pines.
I'll always remember driving into Scottsdale how vividly green the courses are against the dry brown sand and the huge green cactus, and wondering how they manage to keep them that colour in the air which is so arid and clean. It's always amazing to a boy from cold rainy Scotland to see trees full of oranges growing along the sides of city streets in that part of the world
Making headlines at 54 is US Ryder Cup captain Steve Stricker 65 66 -11 vying to become the oldest player to ever win on the PGA a record that Sam Snead at 52, 10 months has held since 1965. Stricker plays mainly on the Champions Tour, last winning on this tour at Kapalua in 2012. Keegan Bradley (65) joins him in 2nd spot.
The cut fell at -3 so Nick Taylor 70 70 -2 didn't make it. Headliner Rory McIlroy playing here for the first time is in with the Canadians T27 -5 70 67 so they will all need 2 really low rounds this weekend to contend
