Saudi International final Results
Dustin Johnson only dropped 2 strokes to par in 72 holes, and despite what he called " a tough day on the greens" he continued his domination of this Saudi International, winning this one by two shots with a closing 68 for -15.
Tony Finau and Justin Rose tried to stay with him but both ended up T2 at -13.
Johnson is just about impossible to beat when he is at his ambling best. He is a very deserved world #1, every part of his game is brilliant and nobody is any more accurate at his length of the tee, including Bryson DeChambeau who was hammering it wildly all over the desert on Saturday, finally finishing T
In our lives most of us need to work just for the money to take care of ourselves and families. When the money no longer matters, then the pressure is off and you can pick and choose what you want to do.
Apart from his enormous ability, I believe as important an asset is his father in law Wayne Gretzky, who was Johnson's greatest ally when he was struggling with life, and his game. He has helped him get his priorities in order, to fully appreciate how fortunate he is, how to keep on an even keel, and realize his wife and family are more important than anything else in his life.
When he got that sorted out his game flourished, the rest became history, world #1, Masters Champion, Fed Ex Cup winner and now he has won the Saudi International twice in 3 years, and been 2nd once and 2021 has just begun.
The future of Saudi Arabia is in progress, the oil reserves are enormous, but it is running out and they are in the midst of rebuilding the economy with a non oil emphasis like the Economic City they are all leaving behind.
Playing this tournament, beaming the pictures of the Royal Greens Golf and Country Club around the world, and paying the world's best a lot, millions of dollars to show up and play is part of their plan.
Dustin Johnson has certainly done his bit to help their cause.
