Victor Hovland is another young gun to watch out for.
At 22 he is one of a few young Norwegian lads who didn't grow up as a world class skier, or a footballer like most of his mates, he took up golf and was so good he won their 2014 amateur championship, then a scholarship at Oklahoma State where he won the 2018 US Amateur Championship at Pebble Beach then went on the be the low amateur at the Masters and the US Open.
His father was working in St Louis as an engineer and brought a set of clubs home to Oslo for 11 year old Victor who spent the winter practicing in in indoor driving range.
He turned pro in 2019 and won his PGA Tour card via the Korn Ferry playoffs. He got everyone's attention with 18 straight rounds in the 60's on the PGA Tour.
Yesterday in the wind at the Puerto Rico Open he shot -6 66 to join Emiliano Grillo (68) Josh Teater (68) and Kyle Stanley (70) for the 36 hole lead at -10.
Roger Sloan was the only Canadian to make the cut and his 3rd round is already done. His scores 73 69 68 -6.
