The first event of the "Florida Swing" is under way this morning under partly sunny skies at the Honda Classic in ritzy Palm Beach Gardens and it features 5 Canadians this week, Corey Connors, David Hearn, Roger Sloan, Mac Hughes and Michael Gligic.
Brooks Koepka is the top ranked player, Rickie Fowler has emerged from goodness knows where, Victor Hovland from Norway, last week's winner, is paired with another exciting young star from Chile, Joaquin Niemann. Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose are waving the English flag and little Louis Oosthuizen continues his globe trotting from South Africa to play with another Open champion Shane Lowry.
There are 4 events in Florida on this swing, next week its the Arnold Palmer Invitational, then the Players at TPC Sawgrass and then the Valspar Championship at Innisbrook where Adam Hadwin won in 2017.
I never enjoyed playing Florida that much and these week's are a perfect example why, water everywhere ! I learned to play as a Scot on links courses and to this day always play my best on firm courses where I can run the ball.
Remember this PGA National course has the famous Bear Trap 15-17.
