AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am final leaderboard https://www.pgatour.com/competition/2020/at-t-pebble-beach-pro-am/leaderboard.html
Nick Taylor wrote another chapter in the book of Canadian golf History with his superb 4 shot win at one of golf's iconic tournaments, against a strong field, in a head to head match up with arguably one of it's most entertaining stars in Phil Mickelson.
Here are some thoughts/facts:
* I mentioned earlier that his recovery from two early bogey's on the tough back 9, for a 69 at Spyglass on Saturday was a turning point. Spyglass is by far the toughest of the 3 venues.
* wire to wire winners are rare, he opened with an eagle on Thursday to get off on the right foot.
* his mellow low key post round interview has drawn criticism, but that demeanor was his strongest ally all week.
* this week was the first time most Canadians have seen him play because he is rarely on TV.
* his stats tell the story T1 eagles(3) T3 birdies (21) 2nd in putting, T3 GIR.
* from 229 to 101 official world rankings and 79 to 13th in Fed Ex Cup
* $1.4m USA dollars
* Invite to Masters and PGA Championship
* 2 years fully exempt.
* favourite to represent Canada at Olympics in Japan
* strong credit for nomination into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame
* will play at Riviera (Genesis Invitational) with Adam Hadwin and Roger Sloan this week
* huge pay back to sponsors including TaylorMade (plays all TaylorMade clubs and ball) and RBC.
* mental validation that he can win, especially under these circumstances have filled him with all important confidence and have made all his 5 years of the PGA Tour's daily grind without much to show... all worth while !
