First of all remember this is a WGC event being held at the old Blue Monster, now called Trump National at Doral down in Miami.
There are 66 players by my count in the field based on world rankings and there is no cut so a free pay day of $100,000 or so for the guy who finishes dead last which is another reason for the desire to play these events.
TV along with the PGA Tour and sponsors have a hand in who plays with who so Spieth, Day and McIlroy are paired at 11.32, Mickelson, Kisner and Holmes at 11.10, Rose, D Johnson and Scott at 11.43, Bubba, Rickie and Henrik at 12.38, Patrick Reed, Branden Grace and Sergio are at 12.49.
Of course we are all holding our collective breath as the biggest (sadly) name of them all is the owner, who just happens to be running for the Presidents job, Donald Trump.
Donald Trump craves attention like a drug addict his next fix. In 2010 at the Ricoh Women's British Open he flew into Turnberry which he now owns and all the wonderful storylines surrounding who was playing well, who wasn't, the history, the weather, Ailsa Craig all went out the window with his arrival, and it all became about him..
With the election process in full swing, even the presence of the world's best will be over shadowed once this billionaire buffoon opens his big mouth..
The question is when and why... that's why we are all holding our breath..
