Australian pro golf continues to flourish as Scott Hend has become the fifth different Australian winner in 2016, and of course one of them was Adam Scott last week at the WGC Cadillac Championship.
He had to survive a course record 63 -17 total from yet another Thai up and comer, Piya Swangarunporn to win the True Thailand Classic for his second European Tour title.
Hend in fact was six shots ahead of Swanagarunporn who is ranked 798th, but found himself trailing by a shot standing on the 14th tee. He made a birdie there then another at the 17th for a 68 -18 total and the win.
Belgium's Thomas Pieters fired a closing 68 to finish third on -15, a shot ahead of Peter Uihlein who closed with a 70. Pelle Edberg also finished with 70 to be 5th.
Hend should move into the top 80 in the Official World Golf Ranking this week.
