I watched many of the daily PGA scheduled interviews today and in general the assembled media asked questions suited to the articles they were working on but every player was asked what they thought of Stevie Williams post WGC win on the bag of Adam Scott...
Here is what I see, and trust me as a guy who has spent the last 16 years as the Sr producer/Host at the Fan590, constantly chasing down every story 24/7 7 days a week I understand how this works..
Tiger fired Stevie, Stevie didn't fire Stevie, after the most lucrative and successful player / caddy relationship in history.. 63 wins world wide, 14 majors etc etc... Personal confidante, friend, valet, driver, office manager, body guard etc etc..Getting dumped after all that is galling.. You initially are stunned, hurt, puzzled, incredulous....
Then you get angry, vindictive, then eventually able to look ahead..
The media rushed to Stevie after Adam won the Bridgestone.. 20-30 microphones please Stevie give us something we can please our bosses with..CBS, etal stuck mike's under his nose.. He didn't ask them to
Next he is getting ripped by the same agencies who begged him for a quote !!
If he had blown the press off and said speak to Adam, they would have been pissed because they had no video or audio....
This is the high point of a lifetime caddy, an excitable, opinionated Kiwi, who was dumped by the world's best golfer in his day, unfairly in his mind who has the dogged world's media begging him for a quote, an interview, something they can benefit from..
How dare you criticise him when he complies...
