Here are the things you don't know about round 1 at the Bridgestone Invitational

The number one thing you may not know about round one at the Bridgestone Invitational on a very soft and receptive Firestone south course in Akron Ohio, is that there are 74 players in the field besides Tiger Woods..

If you didn't know, (and I understand because all the highlights we are being presented with are of you know who) here is the current top 10 leaderboard.. and my goodness, look TW isn't even on it... Someone else is leading, an Aussie called Adam Scott..

1 16 Adam Scott -8 2* E color info 62 62

2 7 Jason Day -7 1:50pm color info 63 63
3 1 24 Ryan Moore -6 6 -2 color info 66 66
T4 14 Martin Laird -5 8 -1 color info 66 66
T4 14 13 Fredrik Jacobson -5 8* -3 color info 68 68
T4 14 35 Rickie Fowler -5 6* -3 color info 68 68
T4 1 1 Nick Watney -5 4* E color info 65 65
T8 4 17 Rory Sabbatini -4 12:30pm* color info 66 66
T8 4 26 D.A. Points -4 12:50pm* color info 66 66
T8 4 64 Stewart Cink -4 1:00pm* color info 66 66
T8 4 -- Thomas Bjorn -4 1:00pm color info 66 66
T8 4 15 Brandt Snedeker -4 1:30pm color info 66 66

* Adam Scott was wearing a red and blue shirt, blue pants and matching white shoes and hat... just thought I'd mention that since you haven't seen him yet... even though he is leading...
*Steve Williams, now working permanently for Scott after Woods fired him a month ago, watched his new Aussie boss  play flawless in matching his career-low round on the PGA TOUR with a 62 that gave Scott a one-shot lead over Jason Day.Williams was on the bag for all seven of Woods' wins at Firestone, including his 11-shot win in 2000 when Woods had a 61 in the second round and set the tournament record at 259.

Adam Scott's 62 is the lowest first-round score in tournament history and one off the tournament record (61) set by Woods in 2000. Scott shared the previous opening-round low (63) with Stewart Cink. Scott shot 63 in 2006 and finished T10.

• Scott shot a complete round hitting 15 of 18 greens in regulation (T2) and needed 25 putts for the round (T3). He has switched to the long putter and now you know why..

• This is the fourth event that Steve Williams has caddied for Adam Scott. U.S. Open (MC), AT&T National (T3), British Open (T25)
Two Australians sit atop the leaderboard, Scott joined by the brilliant young Jason Day who nearly won the Masters earlier this year (T3)

* Darren Clarke who so masterfully won the Open Championship in atrocious conditions less than a month sgo shot +7, 77 and hasn't made a cut since his big win, and frankly doesn't really seem to mind now that his place in golf  history is secured.

* Since you haven't heard a word or seen a highlight the world # 1 Luke Donald opened with -2 68, #2 in the world Lee Westwood, -3 67,  #3 Martin Kaymer -1 69, #5 your US Open champion Rory McIlroy -2 68

So I could go on about the resurgent career of the loveable Thomas Bjorn (-4 66) who after too long wandering lost in the golf wilderness won the Qatar Masters earlier this year and has been on the leaderboard most every week since he turned 40. He has twice been a Ryder Cup vice-captain and is now chairman of the Euro Tour's tournament committee, but...

You don't really care do you, all you know is that Tiger Woods shot a -2 68, and apparently is feeling fine and fit after 12 weeks off..

I just thought it best to report on what is actually happening at the tournament....

Oh I have to dash, I just received a tweet that Tiger has bogeyed 14 and 15 in his second round.... Boy what a story we have brewing.. Tiger shoots 76 !! I can see the headlines now..
