Here we go for the 2011 golf season !!

If you missed it the 2011 professional golf season got underway in Malelane, South Africa early this morning with the Alfred Dunhill Championship on the Leopard Creek course..

There are a few names you will recognize, a lot of South Africans of course along with regulars who are looking to kick start their years before Christmas with some Race To Dubai euros... 51 tourney's in 26 different countries. This week then next in Durban, break for Christmas and New year, then 2 more weeks in South Africa before moving to the middle east for 4 weeks, then India for a week..

The biggest name I saw was Open Champ Louis Oosthuizen who is T117 with an opening +4 76

Here is a report on the action from Europeantour.com..

South Africa's Anthony Michael took an early one shot clubhouse lead as The 2011 Race to Dubai began with the Alfred Dunhill Championship.

The 25 year old completed the Leopard Creek layout in a -6 66 to put him one stroke clear of Robert Rock and Sebastian Buhl at -5 67

England's Rock has had three runner-up finishes on The European Tour but is yet to taste victory, although he boosted his chances with the -5 67.

Buhl was a Challenge Tour regular last season and the 26 year old German took his chance to shine on the big stage with six birdies against a single dropped shot.

Last year's Challenge Tour Number One Alvaro Velasco was a shot further back as the 29 year old from Barcelona carded a 68

There are no Canadians in the field
