Michael Gligic has been playing golf since he was 7, in Burlington, Ontario, he's 32 this year, and after a pro career that has seen him win in China, South Africa, USA and here in Canada on a variety of tours, he is looking for his 1st win in the big show, on the PGA Tour, and he is in with a great chance.

After rounds of 73 66 68 -9 he is T3 just a shot out of the lead, his 66 on Friday was the round of the day in a very heavy wind down in the Dominican Republic.
He has missed the cut in 7 of his last 8 starts, but as he has done since turning pro in 2008, and on the advice of his coach Sean Foley, he keeps digging deep, trying to improve his driving on long PGA Tour courses, and it has paid off this week.
He plays today with England's Danny Willett who also has struggled mightily with his game since he won the Masters in 2016. They are off at 1.10pm in the 2nd last pairing.

I always say these alternate PGA Tour events have a lot of guys in the field who for one reason or another don't have fulltime status, so a win here is a huge step with two years exemption, Michael is no different.

ReplyDeleteEnded up T4 just a couple back of another battler Joel Dahlman . Its so desperate for all those guys on the fringe, only oe paper winner out of 156 every week, but Michael will take great confidence from this, which is everything..
