Drive for show putt for dough, the Connors story...Westwood leads Players Championship.. Sunday tee times/leaderboard

Players Championship Sunday tee times/live scoreboard click here.

It's the age old adage in golf, "drive for show, putt for dough" and that was the story for Corey Connors on Saturday at the Players Championship on a day where the wind was down, and so was the scoring.

Corey played beautifully from tee to green yesterday, as I was saying throughout the round, his driver was on, hitting fairway after fairway, (12/14) and on the front nine he had a birdie putt on every hole, but only made one.

The par 5 9th, 580 yards was typical of his day, 289yd drive with his trademark draw right down the middle. The his driver off the deck straight as an arrow landing on the front of the green and rolling right at the flag, just missing and rolling 20 yards over the green, 308yds away. He putted back to 4 feet, and missed it, settling for a par.

In the end, 2 birdies, 2 bogey's par 72, still at -4, now T22 and that's 9 shots behind Lee Westwood's lead -13 and out of contention.

Adam Hadwin 71 -2 T36, and Nick Taylor, 71 -1 T52 complete the Canadian story  so far this weekend.

Leaders: It's Lee Westwood 68 -13 and Bryson DeChambeau 67 -11 in the final pairing again at 150pm. Last week Lee led Bryson by a shot and lost to him by a shot on the final green at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Justin Thomas 64 -10 and Doug Ghim 68 -10 140pm. Paul Casey 67 -9 and Jon Rahm -9, two Ryder Cup colleagues are at 130pm

Corey Connors 72 -4 plays with Jason Day 71 -4 again, at 1145am

Weather: Mainly sunny again with the breeze from the SE up to 17kph by the end of play..

Summary: For all his 42 world wide wins, European Tour Player of the Year titles, Lee says that this would be his "most prestigious individual title to win". He also said he " doesn't like to compare this Lee to the one 20 years ago, but along with new wife Helen on his bag, he is more relaxed and is having more fun than ever which is helping him play some great golf"

Whether he wins or not today, he'll still enjoy the day, he's already a winner this week, and it's obvious at 47 he will move on to whatever tomorrow brings quite happily, this is all "house money" for him, which will be a strength for him to enjoy as the round goes on.

This isn't between him and Bryson, who's company he enjoys. Just look at the leaderboard behind him with Thomas, Rahm, Casey, Sergio, Fitzpatrick all capable of 65's.

Unfortunately for Corey Connors at -4, even a 65 won't be enough to catch the leader, but his continued fine play will be bolstered again which will lead to wins in the long run.
