WGC Dell Technology World Match Play 1st round matches here
This week the top 64 in the world are in Austin Texas for the Dell World Match Play. Remember in the old days it was a straight knock -out, now the field is in groups of 4 guaranteeing players at least 3 matches. There are 16 groups.
The player with the best record in his group advances to the round of 16 on Saturday ( ties decided by sudden death playoff), which will progress to the quarter finals. The semi finals and the final are on Sunday.
Dustin Johnson is the #1 seed, Group 1 with Kevin Na, Robert MacIntyre and Adam Long.
It gets underway on Wednesday, Corey Connors vs Matthew Wolff 11.53am local He is in Group 15 and will also play Jordan Spieth and Matt Fitzpatrick
Mac Hughes vs Paul Casey 2.05pm local. He is in Group 9 and will also play Talor Gooch and Webb Simpson
If I were a conspiracy advocate, or just a European Tour fan, I would raise a Spockian eyebrow at Group 8 where the "organizers" have ensured that 3 of Tyrrell Hatton, Sergio Garcia, Lee Westwood or Matt Wallace will NOT progress.
