147th Open leaderboard https://www.theopen.com/Leaderboard#!/traditional
The rain has passed through Carnoustie leaving the late wave ideal conditions for scoring on this Friday afternoon at the 147th Open. The greens are still firm but holding and slow, "easy to putt" according to Johnny Miller.
Speaking of easy to putt Kevin Kisner used just 22 putts on Thursday to take the overnight lead and as I write he is -3 today, -8 total with 2 to play and he leads Zach Johnson by 2 shots.
However as I mentioned this morning, they play late at the Open and guys like Rickie Fowler is now at -4 playing the 9th, Tony Finau -5 playing the 7th, Pat Perez -5 playing 12th, Zander Lombard -5 playing 6th.
So there is still a lot of play today that will affect the lead with the cut still projected at +3.
Tiger has gone 71 71 E, Phil Mickelson is at E playing his last 3 holes. Jon Rahm is going the other way +3 today now at +1 total.
Adam Hadwin is at +3 playing his back nine, so needs a birdie or two if he wants to play the weekend.
In my opinion there will be a tightly bunched leaderboard at the end of play today, with calm conditions projected for Saturday before the wind arrives on Sunday.
I'll be back with my next post Sunday morning..
