Champions Tour Senior Players Championship scoreboard http://espn.go.com/golf/leaderboard?tour=champions
Once again defending champion Bernhard Langer leads the pack this time it's their Senior Players Championship at the Belmont CC which is located west of Boston after tying the course record with a brilliant opening -6 65. After 3 years at Fox Chapel in Pittsburg, this is the first PGA TOUR event that Belmont CC has hosted since the 1937 Belmont Country Club Match Play.
Two shots back at -4 67 sit the trio of Rocco Mediate, 2 time US Open winner Lee Janzen who had to Monday qualify, and a guy I have become friends with after playing in a pro am with him up at Diamondback GC near Stouffville, Guy Boros whose dad Julius won the US Open twice, the 2nd also near Boston at Brookline in 1963. Julius was the quickest player ever, and had that silky smooth swing, wasted no time reading putts, and still holds the record for the oldest winner of a major at 48, the PGA in 1968.
Guy told me his dad died of a massive heart attack sitting in his golf cart under a big tree on the 16th hole of his home golf course, Coral Springs in Fort Lauderdale when he was 74.
Colin Montgomerie who has won 3 of his last 6 majors leads a group at -3 68, and Monty will move on next week to play in the US Open at Chambers Bay.
Three Canadians are in the field Rod Spittle +2 73, Jim Rutledge +7 78 and Rick Gibson -1 70
