Today's final round for the US Senior Open Championship is like a great horse race with a big pack neck and neck rounding the clubhouse turn, into the final stretch.
Leading the pack, Bernhard Langer (68) and Jeff Maggert (70) who are at 5-under 205 at hot Del Paso in Sacramento, but there are eight players hard on their heels, one shot off the lead, and that pack includes Tom Watson and defending champion Colin Montgomerie.
Watson who is trying to become the oldest winner of the event, the oldest to win a senior major and the oldest to win on the Champions Tour, had the crowd roaring with a 25 footer for par at 18 to get in with a 71. while Monty playing in his 3rd straight major had a 70, with Kenny Perry joining the chasing pack with a 64.
Right there with them are Fred Funk (68), Grant Waite (69), Scott Dunlap (68), Woody Austin (69) and Jim Carter (70) while red hot Peter Fowler shot a 72 and was among six players at -3.
Stephen Ames is at +5.
