HSBC in Shanghai.."a world class field" despite Donald's withdrawal

Much is being made in some quarters over the fact that Sergio Garcia, and players like Steve Stricker, Dustin Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Webb Simpson, Bubba Watson, Gary Woodland and Sean O'Hair all passing on their invitations to this HSBC along with Phil Mickelson.
However here is what some of the world class players in the field are saying..

You’ve got the best players on the planet here, it’s a world-class field,” said PGA Champion Keegan Bradley as he prepares to play in his first event in China.

“This is a tough week. It’s usually second to the Open Championship for the best field anywhere in the world outside the States said Adam Scott who hoisted the WGC Bridgestone Invitational trophy, remember that, with Stevie Williams getting all the publicity

Last year Francesco Molinari, fought it out with Lee Westwood from start to finish in one of the finest displays of tournament golf Asia has ever seen. Westwood was 9 shots clear of the field, but still lost by a shot to the Italian who had a fairytale season including the win with Edoardo in the World Cup,  and also the Ryder Cup.

I played the best golf of my life; it was almost flawless, and yet I still only won by one shot from Lee: that’s how well you have to play to win the HSBC Champions, It’s not going to be any easier this week. It really has become one of the best tournaments in the world

78 players and here are the tee times and remember Shanghai is 10 hours ahead of EST..http://www.europeantour.com/europeantour/season=2011/tournamentid=2011081/teetimes/index.html

With Luke Donald leading Rory McIlroy by just over 1.3m euros and unavailable to play this week as his wife Diane is expecting their second child here is a breakdown of the prize money they are playing for with 1st prize at  842,217euros... http://www.europeantour.com/europeantour/season=2011/tournamentid=2011081/eventinfo/index.html#

Remember, there are big prize funds to play for over the next month before the season climaxes at the Dubai World Championship which gives McIlroy, Westwood, Kaymer and Schwartzel a chance to catch or close on Donald.

This years 4 major champs are in the field along with Adam Scott, and Nick Watney who won the other WGC events.
