Top10 for Taylor, Copperhead plays tough at Valspar Championship.. final results/prize money

 PGA Tour Valspar Championship Leaderboard

When was the last time in this era we saw a winning score where the lowest round was 67.

That happened this week when relative unknown American Taylor Moore 71 67 69 67 -10 held off Tommy Fleetwood 68 69 69 70 -8, ($477,900) Jordan Spieth 67 70 69 70 -8 ($477,900) and Adam Schenk 2nd 66 69 70 70 -9. ($882,900)

The win worth $1,458,000 for 2nd year man Moore from Texas, his first on the PGA Tour and a former Canadian Tour winner. He moves from #103 to #49 OWGR and has a spot at the Masters.

 Nick Taylor

Nick Taylor who placed 2nd at the WM Phoenix Open back in February worth over $2,000,000 continued his fine 2023 season with another T10, 72 70 69 70 -3 worth $181,575

You may remember Nick barely kept his card finishing #123 of the top 125 in 2022. He has now moved up to OWGR #67.

The Copperhead course played tough all week as it has done since the event was moved to March. There have been 3 playoffs since 2015 and the final result was not decided until the final pairing on the 72nd hole when Schenk couldn't force a playoff after a poor drive ended behind a tree.

Spieth the crowd and TV favourite  was tied for the lead at -10 until he found water off the tee at the par 4 16th and barely made a bogey. Another snake bite by Copperhead.

This week is another designated $20,000,000 event WGC Dell Technology Match Play at the Austin Country Club, hosting for the 7th time. There are 64 players in 16 groups which will be announced later today.

Last year Scheffler beat Kevin Kisner in the final 4&3

Corey Connors lost in the semi final to Kisner 1up on the 18th , the won the Consolation final beating Dustin Johnson 3&1

Mac Hughes #60 owgr, Adam Svensson #54, Adam Hadwin #63 and Nick Taylor #67 will join Connors #41 in the field this week.

Justin Thomas #10 and Justin Rose #31 have declined to play.
