Strong finish for Cockerill at Jonsson Workwear Open... full scoreboard

DP World Tour : Jonsson Workwear Open Leaderboard

Such is the game of golf, frustrating and tough one day, almost easy and exhilarating the next.

Aaron Cockerill has had a good week on the Club at Steyn City, the last week of this African swing, the last week before the Masters break.

Opening 66 69 -9 had him in a good spot heading into the weekend. Then on moving day he had to fight just to make par while the rest of the field was going low after a heavy night of rain softened the course. He fell out of contention T39. You need 4 really good rounds to win on any tour, that's why there is just one winner.

He began play on the 10th early this morning, birdied 10,11 then added 2 more at 15,16 out bogey free in -4 32.

After the turn his first eagle of the week on the par 5 3rd, another birdie at the 7th for -3 33 and a bogey free -7 65, his best round of the year. He moved up 24 spots, and is in the clubhouse T13.

His numbers:

T13, 66, 69 72 65 -16 Aaron made 1eagle, 18 birdies 1 double, 2 bogey's and 50 pars over the 72 holes. Ranked #385 owgr and #109 DP World ranking.

The winner Nick Bachem from Germany 65 66 69 64 -24

The prize fund $1,500,000 with $255,000 to the winner. Aaron wins $24,150

It may have been a case of too little too late for Aaron this week, but that's golf, you take the good and learn how to deal with the bad. Over all it was a real good week for Aaron to go into the Masters break with.
