Sensational Cockerill bounce back. play suspended at SDC Championship...full scoreboard

DP World Tour: SDC Championship Leaderboard

"What a difference a day makes" was a hit for Dinah Washington in the 60's and it has still rings true today.

Everything you need to know about the SDC Championship

Especially true for Aaron Cockerill, who missed the cut last week in Kenya after nearly 2 months off, and seemed headed that way again in Joburg at the SDC Championship after an opening +5 77 on these St Francis links

With the cut projected at +1 he was out early off the 1st tee this morning before the wind got up. A birdie 3 at the 1st was followed by 3 more at 4,6 and 7 out in -4 32.

With 3 straight pars after the turn, back to back birdies at 12 and 13, followed by 5 straight pars to make the cut and more with a bogey free, 6 birdie 66, T27 -1.

The clubhouse lead with round two suspended due to high winds, is Frenchman Julian Brun 69 67 -8.

Brun began the day two shots off the lead after posting an impressive opening round of 69 in the wind on Thursday afternoon.

But in much more favourable conditions at St. Francis Links on Friday morning, Brun - who started from the tenth tee - surged into contention with early birdies at the 12th, 14th and 18th.

The 30-year-old then made four birdies and two bogeys on the homeward nine to set the clubhouse target at eight under par before high winds caused play to be suspended at 13.52 local time.

No further play was possible on Friday, with the second round set to resume at 07.00 on Saturday.

Home favourite Albert Venter, Swede Jens Dantorp and Englishman Matthew Baldwin were Brun's nearest challengers on seven under after they all finished their rounds on Friday.

Dantorp's 63, which contained ten birdies and one bogey, was the lowest round of the week so far.
