Brooke Henderson leads Canadians in Los Angeles

This week the LPGA Tour has flown from Hawaii to the HUGEL-JTBC LA Open for their return to Los Angeles after a 13-year absence. They are playing the windy Wilshire Country Club just south of Hollywood with in the shadow of the famous Hollywood sign and Griffith Observatory.

Brooke Henderson hot off her win last week continues her fine play and was the low Canadian at -1 70 T15.  Alena Sharp won't be pleased with +3 74 T75.  Maude-Aimee Leblanc +4 75 T96 and Anne-Catherine Tanguay was +5 76 T115.

The leader in front of a big crowd of LA based Koreans is Inbee Park who shot a -5 66 for a one-shot lead. Marina Alex (-4 67) was second. Lexi Thompson was one of seven players at -3 68 in partly sunny and unseasonable temperatures.

According to Wikipedia, HUGEL is the South Korea-based maker of beauty products, including botulinum toxin product (commonly known as “botox.”) Founded in 2001, it exports botulinum toxin product Botulax to 24 countries including Japan, Thailand and Vietnam and plans to enter the U.S. market in future.

JTBC, a Korean broadcasting company that is part of the JoongAng Group, owns multiple channels that consist of comprehensive, golf-specialized and other various genres. JoongAng Group is a multi-media company that covers all categories of culture including printed media, television, entertainment and leisure. JTBC is also the LPGA’s Korean television rights holder and previously sponsored multiple events in Portland, Virginia and Arizona.
