Sergio Garcia takes a 1 shot lead into Sunday at Valderrama

European Tour Andalucia Valderrama Masters http://www.europeantour.com/europeantour/season=2017/tournamentid=2017086/leaderboard/index.html#/leaderboard

Sergio Garcia has had quite a year, winning the Masters to top what has been a stellar, at times controversial career, finally finding the love of his life, former Golf Channel reporter Angela Atkins, and getting married in Texas, and now awaiting the arrival of their first child.

The Spaniard, now 37 was awarded Honorary Life Membership of the European Tour in recognition of his Masters Tournament win in April on Friday night.

Today he takes a 1 shot lead into his own tournament, the Andalucia Valderrama Masters sponsored by the Sergio Garcia Foundation, at his favourite golf course, he won this championship here in 2011 and in fact has won 5 of his 13 European Tour victories in Spain.

With rounds of 66 71 68 -8 he is atop the scoreboard by a shot over England's Daniel Brooks 70 72 64 -7 as he looks to close the gap on Race to Dubai leader Tommy Fleetwood.

Many players this week have a lot at stake and Brooks is one of them who needs a win or a very good finish to secure his playing privileges for next year. Welsh Ryder Cup star Jamie Donaldson is another and he is currently T5 at -4.

Round 4 is under way.
