Young guns top the Players after 36 holes...full scoreboard /TEE TIMES

PGA Tour : Players Championship Tee Times

Sixty-seven players have made the cut and they are all under par when it fell at -1after another volatile day on TPC Sawgrass.

A leading example, Justin Thomas was down and nearly out after an opening 78 on Thursday, then the very same guy, same clubs, same ball flirted with 59 on Friday, ending up with a record 16 shot swing 62 to sit T29 -4.

First round leader Camilo Villegas, was 66 on Thursday,10 strokes worse, 76 on Friday T49 -2. Veteran Charlie Hoffman 74, got out of the right side of his bed for 65 on Friday T16 -5.

It was that kind of day, very little breeze, sundrenched, as one TV commentator said as the early birdies poured in "the kitchen is open for business this morning." That didn't last all day.

It was not a good day for Canadians with five of the seven sent packing leaving just these two :

Taylor Pendrith T16 69 70 -5   who admits to a cold start this year especially with his putter, however after holing a 40 footer on his first hole Thursday, dead center, right pace, he had this to say : " I'd been waiting for that for a long time, we spent most of the week working on the short game, and it gave me confidence, I holed a lot of good ones today !"

Corey Conners T49 71 71 -2   He made 2 bogey's on his last 3 holes, so far he keeps taking two steps forward and one step back. His tempo is sublime, he hits that high draw with great regularity, but these greens are fast getting faster, he'll need a few more to drop if he is to contend at all come Sunday.

Missed cuts:

Mac Hughes +1, Adam Hadwin +2 with an incredible 7 bogey's and a double shot 77, Nick Taylor +2, Adam Svensson +7 Ben Silverman +8 will all have a family holiday in Florida for the weekend..

Now to the top, American lefty stringbean Akshay Bhatia has steadily become more than just a prolific shot maker, a delight to watch how he shapes his shots, but with his long putter becoming reliable, he has become a threat to win and with T1 67 66 -11 he will get a long sleep this morning..

So will the male member of the Australian Lee family, (his sister Minjee Lee was the world #1 amateur in 2014 before becoming a star on the LPGA) Min Woo Lee has it all working thus far T1 67 66 -11.

They lead 34 year old American, JJ Spaun, 3rd 66 68 -10.

Now the big guys, Rory was out early, still scrambling to T4 67 68 -9 along with Collin Morikawa who may have used up all his luck chipping in twice on Friday T4 70 65 -9 then lesser known Alex Smalley having a great week 68 67 -9

Then comes the pack, some notables, Tommy Fleetwood T9 71 66 -7, in form Sepp Straka T11 70 68 -6 and oh yes, world #1 Scottie Scheffler isn't hogging all the lime light...yet... T16 69 70 -5.

WEATHER.

More blinding Florida sunshine mid to high 70's F, however the wind as predicted is set to pick up both days, from the NW today blowing at 16-18 mph by the afternoon then more of the same but from the N Sunday.

PS. What a spring it has been for all the Canadian snowbirds in Florida, the Jays have only had 1 rain day as we get into the last days of Spring Training, full sunshine, the beaches are packed, the desired tans achieved early on, as March break heads into it's last weekend.
