PGA Tour : AP Invitational...Leaderboard
Watching the impossibly beautiful calm sunbaked Florida weather Mother Nature is providing in Orlando for the AP Invitational and all the rest of the state for that matter reminds me of the first time as a 19 year old I drove with my late pal Rick Boustead in my 1969 red Volkswagon Beetle in a blinding snow storm from Scarborough to Fort Lauderdale, non stop 30 hours, sick, stupid.
But my reward was waking up to a day like today, lying in the warmth of the beach by the Atlantic Ocean wondering why I didn't live there all the time.
Arnie's Bay Hill course is holding up on it's on merit despite ideal scoring conditions, the lead by Shane Lowry who finished 3rd here last year is at 69 67 -8, he is putting the lights out so far. He is the only player to break par both days, just 18 of the 51 players are under par.
He had this to say about the tough test that Bay Hill presents: " I like the grind of pars are good, there are a lot of weeks out here you shoot level par for 9 holes and you feel like you're beating your head against a wall. Whereas weeks like this, level par after nine you're doing ok. I like the type of golf course, anytime you break 70 you feel like you have had a good day "
In form Wyndham Clark is next 67 71 -6 then Canada's Corey Conners is right in contention 67 70 -5 along with Colin Morikawa T3.
Not much is said anymore about the money, so I'll remind you these 50 guys are about to share $20,000,000 this week and $25,000,000 next week at the Players, so every shot missed or made is worth a whole lot !
