It's hard to believe Brooke Henderson is only 23, we've been following her so long, however on her birthday yesterday she went out early, got some putts to drop on her back nine and took the clubhouse lead with -4 68.
Later in the heat of the day with the greens hardening in the hot desert sun, Nelly Korda eagled the last to get to -6, 66 for the first round lead with Korean In Gee Chun and Swede Madelene Sagstrom in at -5 67.
Today with round 2 under way at the ANA Inspiration, a major on the LPGA Tour, it's Brooke's turn to play in the afternoon heat with her sister on the bag, but in a cart by permission of the Tour officials, and with hotter temperatures in the forecast, over 100*f, players may be given permission as well.
Alena Sharp played in the afternoon on Thursday and posted +3 75.
It's a very comfortable, dead calm 72*f this morning, remember they are 3 hours behind EST out at Rancho Mirage, California.
Brooke looked comfortable yesterday, driving and putting well, even used driver off the deck for her second into the par 5 18th.
