Reasons to cheer on championship Sunday

While the 70 Leaf hopefuls are just wrapping up their 2nd day of practice down at the Mastercard Center as they begin their annual trek to futility, there is much to cheer for on a positive note in sports, not just golf on this championship Sunday

* Jay Don Blake who has not won since 1991 when his main sponsor was the Playboy Club has already won today in a 4way playoff in Korea, He beat Senior, Cook and O'Meara

* while Canada lost 46-19 this morning to a superb French team in New Zealand, they only enhanced their reputation as a fierce tackling never say die squad. They are 1-1 now after beating Tonga and still have the All Blacks and Japan to play

*Vasek Pospisil leading 2-0 and battling Amir Weintraub in the 3rd set in a fantastic Davis Cup tie in Israel has just won 6-4 to put Canada through !!,, Raonic has had to withdraw.

* David Hearn is just a shot behind the leader as he plays in the Boise Open on the Nationwide tour

* Alexis Thompson leads by 5 shots and more over every big star in women's golf in the Navistar Championship in Alabama, she is just 16 and is exactly the boost the LPGA needs in North America

* Justin Rose is the forgotten Englishman and leads by 4 at the BMW. He is coached by my pal Sean Foley..

* no one here cares about the Vivendi Seve Trophy but that fight back earlier this morning by the Continental team was fun to watch

*the sun is shining and I am off for a long walk listening to Al and Jerry call the Jays and the Jankees !!! will be back in time to see golf wrap up so get back to me here..
