Playing on a hybrid of the two 18 hole courses at the Saint-Nom-La-Breteche facility outside of Paris the only Continental pairing that are not losing are Anders Hansen and Francesco Molinari who are AS with Lee Westwood and Mark Foster thru14.

The Continental team are in turquoise blue shirts and white pants while GB&Ire are in black trousers with light blue shirts, all with an emblem of Seve with his famous fist pumping pose captured on the 18th green at St Andrews when he won in 1984.

Scott Jamieson and Ross Fisher hammered Peter Hanson and Raphael Jacquelin 6&4 for GB&Ireland first point and red hot Simon Dyson and partner Jamie Donaldson have just beat Miguel Jimenez and Pablo Larrazabal 2&1 for their second.

update,,now 3-0 GB&Ireland as Poulter and Rock 5&3 winners over Bjorn and Noren

update,, finally a point for Continentals as Molinari just holed an 8 footer on 18 to give he and his partner Anders Hansen a 1up win over the pairing from Worksop, Westwood and Foster   3-1 now with the final match on 18..

update,, Clarke and Horsey just beat Manaserro and Colsaerts 1 hole

So the day ends with a resounding 4-1 lead for Paul McGinley and his team. I will post tomorrow's 5 fourball matches as soon as they are announced

John Van de Velde is bound to try new pairings for his Continental side.
