Enjoy the tourney, forget the $10m..

Enjoy the tournament, forget the $10m, that is the message from many of the elite top 30 field as play begins this morning at the Tour Championship at the East Lake GC in Atlanta, the final leg of the Fed Ex Cup playoffs.

"I'm just going to play the best I can, enjoy the week and let the rest work itself out" said Dustin Johnson and most of the other guys echo his sentiments and I suggest you do the same.

I receive calls and emails at this time of year from many of you who think it is obscene that these rich pampered golfers are playing for a possible $11.4m this week, and I agree with you, as inured as I am to the gargantuan sums of money involved in pro sports around the world today, but it is what it is, at least Tiger's not getting it this year,

Forget the money, it's late September and you have 30 of the PGA's best on a tough course, so just enjoy and let's hope it comes down to a last putt..

Remember the top 5 guys on the points list control their destiny. If any of them win, they win the Fed Ex Cup and the loot.. Webb Simpson, Dustin Johnson, Justin Rose, Luke Donald and Matt Kuchar..Others can also win, but these 5 can't be beat if any one of them wins..

pgatour.com has figured out what each guy needs to happen to win it all so just click here for that link http://www.pgatour.com/2011/fedexcup/09/20/scenarios/index.html

The field tees off at 11.35 in pairs according to their rank 30-1, so Simpson and Johnson are last off today.

There is rain, thunder and lightning in the forecast for today and tomorrow, high of 27* with 90% humidity, typical hot sticky Atlanta weather !!

Join me here all weekend for this and the Solheim Cup which starts tomorrow in Killeen, Ireland just north of Dublin, and listen for me on the International Sports report Sunday morning between 8am-10am on TSN 1050 Sports radio.
