Donald or Furyk...possibly neither !!

Luke Donald starts today with the slenderest of leads, 1 shot, over defending champion Jim Furyk, but in reality all the guys on this abbreviated leaderboard are no more than 5 shots behind, and anyone of them is perfectly capable of winning.

What I can tell you is that he has carried the lead into the final round on the PGA TOUR six previous times, with his only win coming at the 2006 Honda Classic but in his last two starts at Harbour Town he finished T2 (2009) and T3 (2010
He has a tour leading 12 consecutive rounds at par or better and coming into the week, he led the tour in scoring average at 69.28 and putting average (1.703).

However with all these guys so close he will have to go out and win it, because you know there will be several charges made from the chasing pack.

Furyk lead most of the day Saturday after Luke's early double bogey at 2, and is the defending champ, Ricky Barnes is so talented not to have won and he was 4th recently at the Honda, veteran Scott Verplank was T2 a couple of weeks ago, Jason Day is carrying over his great play at Augusta where he T2, Mark Wilson has won twice already this year and was T9 recently at Bay Hill and Pat Perez is in good form, he T5 last week at the Valero.

So Luke will definitely have his hands full, and will really have earned that top spot in the world if he hangs on to win and he will need to since Westwood won in Indonesia earlier this morning
