Late double spoils Conners start, Gligic leads Canadian scoring at the Valero Texas Open... live leaderboard

PGA Tour: Valero Texas Open Friday leaderboard  here

Playing on a rare windless day on TPC San Antonio Oak Course Scotland's Russell Knox was the best of the bunch at -7 65. From Inverness, he and his family have been living just outside Jacksonville, Florida ever since he went there to university.

Corey Conners got lots of TV time, playing in a featured group with Jordan Spieth and Charlie Hoffman.

As I watched he didn't quite have the A game he featured all last week in Austin at the Dell Match Play, making a bogey at his 1st, evened out with a birdie at 6 out in 36.

He hadn't caught on fire yet, nor had his group, Spieth of course a Texan hero. and Corey made a bogey at 10. However after a long 47 foot putt for birdie at 11, he made another beauty at 12, then with one of the shots of the day a 250 yd hybrid 2nd at 14 to 5 feet and a resulting eagle now suddenly -3.

He added another at the par 4 17th and was well on his way, until he hit his tee shot wide right at the reachable par 5 18th, then into the creek with his second, a penalty drop, then his 4th into the back bunker  short sided and a final 2 putts for a double bogey 7 for -2 70. T30.

Michael Gligic

Michael Gligic had a good start -3 69 T18, Adam Hadwin -2 70 T30, Nick Taylor and Adam Svensson T72 with E 72's and Roger Sloan +2 74.

The cut is projected at -1. Rory McIlroy is T72, E 72.
