Play suspended at St Andrews due to high wind

Open Championship leaderboard http://www.theopen.com/Leaderboard#!/traditional

Round 2 has been suspended as the wind is howling at St Andrews this morning and here is the official statement from the R&A..

"We spent an hour at the far end of the course, before play started, assessing whether the course was playable. Balls were not moving on the greens and while the conditions were extremely difficult, we considered the golf course to be playable. Gusts of wind increased in speed by 10 - 15% after play resumed. This could not be foreseen at the time that play was restarted and made a material difference to the playability of the golf course.

We will make an announcement on when play is likely to restart in due course."

When play does resume Danny Willett 66,69 -9 will be able to sleep in as he has completed his 2nd round, however co-leader Dustin Johnson was up early as he has 3 holes left to play. 42 players did not finish, some including Tiger +5, have the entire back nine to play.

A couple of Scots are in contention Paul Lawrie -8 and Marc Warren -7..Adam Scott with a fine 67 shot into the mix at -7, Zach Johnson is -7 as are Robert Streb and Louis Oosthuizen.

Jordan Spieth is at -5. The cut is projected to fall at E. Graham DeLaet is right on that number 71,73, while David Hearn who shot 74 on Thursday is at +4 with the back nine to play.

The wind is listed at 43kph from the SW and there is more of it on Sunday with rain thrown in
