Dunne, Spieth the lead stories today at the Open Championship

The Open Championship leaderboard http://www.theopen.com/Leaderboard#!/traditional

Well you all know who Jordan Spieth is, and he just posted -6 66 to get to -11, as his quest to win his 3rd major of the year just got a big step closer, but hands up anyone who knows who Paul Dunne is ??!!

He is a 22 year old amateur from Greystones in Ireland a 1500-1 shot, whose college coach from UAB (Alabama-Birmingham) is also his caddie and he just shot 66 to go with a pair of 69's -12 total and a share of the lead with Louis Oosthuizen and Jason Day who booth shot 67.

The last amateur to win the Open Championship was Bobby Jones in 1930. Dunne is the 80th ranked amateur in the world, he qualified for the Open at Woburn GC. He played at Royal Liverpool last year and missed the cut.

Dunne was one of the top players on the junior circuit in Ireland and won the Irish Youths Amateur Championship in 2010, joining a list of champions that also includes Louis Oosthuizen and Padraig Harrington.

Big Dustin Johnson is struggling today at +3 shooting 75. The scoring conditions have been ideal all day, in fact of the first 28 to finish this morning only 4 failed to break par..

Dunne and Oosthuizen are the final pairing tomorrow, Spieth and Day the penultimate, and the third last pairing getting no talk at all are Paddy Harrington and Marc Leishman..

Story lines galore for a Monday finale, but today Spieth and the amateur Dunne were the lead stories..
