Like the Bob Hope (now the Humana Challenge) this week's first major of the season will always be known as the Dinah Shore, part of Dinah Shore week in Palm Springs California, which had for years been named for the legendary singer and is now called the ANA (All Nippon Airways) Inspiration Championship.
It started in 1972 as the Colgate Dinah Shore, then became the Nabisco Dinah Shore in 1982, the Kraft Nabisco in 2002 and the ANA last year. A strong field has gathered on the Houston GC down in Humble Texas some, like the 5 Canadians in the field taking a final winning shot to get to Augusta, many who are already in the Masters field choosing to compete on the course's lightning fast undulating greens in part to prepare for next week.
