Jordan Spieth was just too good.

2015 Masters final scoreboard http://www.masters.com/en_US/scores/index.html

On the weekend Mickelson shot 67 69 -14, Justin Rose 67 70 -14, Rory McIlroy 68 66 - 12 all good enough to win this 2015 edition of the Masters. They finished T2 and 4th..

It was just the case that an exceptional  performance 64 66 70 70 from an exceptional 21 year old Texan called Jordan Spieth was just too good over 4 days for any of the rest.

Heck if it wasn't for exceptional performances by Jimmy Walker at the Valero and JB Holmes at the Shell Houston Open, Spieth would have been just too good for the last month...

Instead he has 2 seconds and 2 wins, the biggest of course is his new place in history as the 79th Masters champion.

This run of form is not unprecedented. Remember Rory got to the world #1 spot last summer when he won 3 in a row, including the Open Championship and the PGA...just mull that over..

Now he has a new #2, and if he's not careful there will be a new #1. Spieth's run won't last, that's the way golf is, but I'm not alone in thinking as well grounded as he is, as brilliant as his game is, he is going to be one of the games' best for a long time.

Hideki Matsuyama 70 66 -11 quietly here but not in Japan was 5th, Ian Poulter's 67 67 weekend saw him finish at -9 T6 along with Dustin Johnson 73 69 and Paul Casey 74 68...

Others had their moments, remember Ernie opening with a -5 67.. he ended up 72 75 72 T22, Tiger of course was a winner this week 73 69 68 73 -5 T17, as was Sergio 68 74 71 70, Henrik Stenson 73 73 70 68 -4 got better as the week rolled on...

There were many stories like that, but in the end only one story line and it was the headline.. Jordan Spieth was just too good for any of them

For the record or records...Spieth closed with a -2 70, missing a short putt on the final hole that would have set yet another record. Instead, he tied the score set by Tiger Woods in 1997 at -18 270. He has the 36-hole record at -14 130, the 54-hole record at -16 200, the most birdies for the tournament at 28, the lowest opening round by a champion at 64, and is the youngest player to lead after the opening round.

Like I said, just too good and there was no real drama as Spieth showed early he was not going to be caught as Rose, starting the final round four shots behind, made a birdie on the first hole, but Spieth as confident as ever made his birdie putt from just inside him, in fact his 35 front nine was good enough to take his lead to five shots, and it was effectively all over..
