Lewis's putter turns cold as Lincicome beats her in a playoff

LPGA Tour ANA Inspiration final scoreboard http://espn.go.com/golf/leaderboard?tour=lpga

For me here's the story at the LPGA's first major of the year in the desert at Mission Hills, always kind of a different week, where all the tour's best show up but this time surrounded in Palm Springs by impossibly beautiful sunny hot weather and rich residents, tummy tucks, boob jobs, and tans, a huge lesbian invasion for the week, and in the end a jump into the safely sanitized Poppies Pond for the winners, friends and caddies..

This year Brittany Lincicome ended up making that jump for the second time in her career after she eagled the par-5 18th in regulation to pull even with Stacy Lewis at -9 and then beat her with a two-putt on the third playoff hole.

Full marks to Brittany, but Stacy must feel she blew her chances to win her third major.

Consider this.. she had three chances to win on the 18th. She missed birdie putts from 13 feet in regulation, 15 feet on the first extra hole and 12 feet on the second. She also bogeyed the par-4 13th and 15th, missing again from 6 feet and 5 feet respectively.

Talk about a putter turning cold !!

The long-hitting Lincicome, also the 2009 winner, finished with -3 69 -9 total. Lewis, the 2011 champion, closed with a -2 70, also -9. Morgan Pressel shot 70 to finish 3rd at -8.

Sei Young Kim, three strokes ahead of Lewis entering the round, shot a +3 75 to T4 at -7 with Carlota Ciganda (68) and Anna Nordqvist (69). Kim could only manage one par on the back nine, on the 18th when she needed an eagle to get into the playoff.

Lexi Thompson, the winner last year, ended up -6 finishing birdie-eagle for a -2 70 while the bubble burst for Lydia Ko who T51 71 73 74 73 after going 29 rounds under par...
