PGA Tour : Texas Children's Houston Open Leaderboard

In Houston Texas the cavalry came charging just like a western movie led by Scottie Scheffler 63, Gary Woodland 62, Sami Valimaki 62, Wyndham Clark 64, Taylor Pendrith 65, on and on came the charge.

* Then the drama. Min Woo Lee started with a 4 shot lead, and despite playing well, the pack were closing. At the par 5 16th, he drove it straight into the water, while Scheffler was putting for eagle ahead, ended up making birdie.

* Lee took a provisional 3 off the tee and made bogey 6 with 2 to play. He was -20, Scheffler -19 and Woodland in the clubhouse -19.

*Scheffler's tremendous charge ended at 16, he missed birdie chances at 17 and 18 to finish 63 -19

* Now Lee needed to par in for the win. Solid par4 at 17. Drive a little left into first cut at 18 and the approach over the flag and green to 54 feet.

* a game winning putt to 8'' for the tap in win, his first on the PGA Tour and well deserved on his play all week.

Discarded LIV player Eugenio Chacarra wins Hero Indian Open... final results/ prize money

DP World Tour : Hero Indian Open Results

On a tough DLF course in New Delhi, tricky at best of times, very difficult in the  heat and wind that nearly burned out some of the greens, Spaniard Eugenio Chacarra has a place to play for the next 2 years on the DP World Tour after his 3 shot win today at the Hero Indian Open in just his 9th start.

Eugenio Chacarra earns maiden DP World Tour title in India

His 70 70 73 71 -4 was the best of the bunch, with defending champion Keita Nakajima putting on a great defense of his title, but relegated to be runner up 74 66 74 72 -2. Veteran Dutchman Joost Luiten was 3rd 69 73 74 71 -1

They are the only 3 to break par !

Chacarra is an interesting story of a young star amateur at Oklahoma State who rose to #2 in the world, just as LIV came along.

Spurning the conventional path to the pro game, he accepted the easy LIV money, and won in his 5th start in Bangkok, but that would be his highlight. (He did also win on the Asian Tour)

In 3 years, playing in obscurity, he amassed  $16,000,000 along with his signing bonus. He was discarded after a very mediocre 2023-24 when his contract was not renewed for 2025.

In a recent interview with Flushing It he thanked the LIV for what they offered him, security for life at 24, " I don't know if this will work out for the best, but I know my heart tells me, to wake up and grind and get better, to say I can be a PGA Tour player one day"

Disillusioned after LIV was not awarded OWGR points or entry to the majors, he says he now sees what it's like to be a PGA Tour player, to get into the majors.

(FYI, in that interview he goes as far as comparing himself in ability with world #6 Ludvig Aberg.....)

Today he took a big step towards that, with his win, and 2 year exemption on the DP World Tour.

Chacarra, who was playing on a tournament invitation this week, said: "Obviously I'd like to start by thanking Hero for giving me a chance to compete.

"I'm very grateful for that opportunity. You guys probably changed my life from today so thanks for that.

“It was a tough day, we knew it was going to be a long day with a lot of pressure and obviously not having the start I really wanted to.

“I think I did a great job all week of staying patient. And I know God was helping me today. I got a couple of good bounces (including) that chip on 14. I got some luck that you need to win but very proud.

“I know when I play my best I’m one of the best players in the world, I’ve already proved that a million times.

Canada's Aaron Cockerill finished T29 70 74 78 75 +9. worth $29,232 cdn.

Aussie Lee 63 sets the Sunday standard in Texas... 54 hole scoreboard

PGA Tour : Texas Children's Houston Open Leaderboard

On a moving day when some leaders stalled, others improved, nobody could match 26 year old Aussie Min Woo Lee, younger brother to LPGA star Minjee Lee who was sensational with a -7 63 to take a 4 shot lead into Sunday at this version of the Texas Children's Houston Open on the Memorial GC.

Image caption,

Lee has posted rounds of 66, 64 and 63 at the Houston Open

He had eight one putt greens in a row, such was his ball striking, consistently long and accurate of the tee, " Every things clicking, I just feel good about it". He is at -17 and with 3 DP World Tour titles and an Asian tour win on his resume, he is looking for his first PGA Tour victory.

Argentinian , Alejandro Tosti who was in contention last year is next, his 65 sees him in at -13, then Scheffler 69, Ryan Fox from out of the wilderness 65, and Ryan Gerard 68,are all 5 behind at -12.

Such is golf, Scottie Scheffler who got into contention with his -8 62 where he made everything, only managed 1 birdie on Saturday. " Yesterday I made a bunch, today I felt like I couldn't get the ball to go in the hole"

Canada's Taylor Pendrith stalled as well, out in -1 34, then a birdie 3 at the 10th he was in good shape, but a bogey at 12, then the double at the 122 yard par3 15th when he pulled his tee shot well left then took 4 to get down put the brakes on, but he bounced back with a birdie 3 at the 17th, in for 70 and T10 -10.

Rory has shot 70 66 65 T14 -9 getting better each round as he preps for the Masters.

Other Canadians

Mac Hughes T14 69 66 66 -9 playing well this week

Adam Hadwin T24  69 66 67 -8 feeling a lot better after his little meltdown at the Valspar where he smashed a sprinkler head in a peak of temper, then bought the entire grounds crew lunch and paid to repair the sprinkler for his transgression.

Adam Svensson T64 67 68 73, moved the wrong way

Sunday WEATHER

High 70s F, not much rain, and wind increasing into afternoon (6-15mph N) for Houston, so wind may he a factor for the leaders later in the day.

Spaniard Chacarra leads as scoring soars at windy Hero Indian Open... leaderboard

DP World Tour : Hero Indian Open

With the cut falling at +6, there are only 5 players under par in New Delhi on a very difficult firm and fast DLF G&CC course, a stern test site of the Hero Indian Open as round 3 is in the books, with greens becoming increasingly burnt out..

Here are the 5 best of the bunch, who played remarkable golf with another day of the same still to come on Sunday.

2162116040

Eugenio Chacarra his a drive during LIV Golf's 2024 event in Spain.

25 year old Spaniard Eugenio Chacarra ranked #309, looking for his first DP World Tour win, made par his friend posting 15 of them, with 2 bogey's and 1 birdie for +1 73 and a -3 total.

He was born in Madrid, scholarships at Wake Forest and Oklahoma State University's. Played on LIV for a lot of Saudi money, where he won once, before his 2nd win on the Asian Tour. He won $16,000,000 plus signing bonus on LIV before being dropped in 2025, now has not got a home to play on. "At LIV there is a lot of money whether you are 1st or 30th all money, nothing else"

"I think I played great. My ball-striking was incredible like it's been all week, so that was nice.

"I'm very pleased with this score, I think it was playing tough. This course, we know what it is, one bad swing and you can get a big number.

"So I'm pleased with it but it's time to reset, talk to my team and see what we can do better for tomorrow."

Defending champion and course specialist Japan's Keita Nakajima made 14 straight pars to begin his round, finishing +2 74 to sit T2 at -2.

He is T2 with South African, Brandon Stone 70 73 71 -2 who managed 4 birdies against 3 bogeys for one of the rounds of the day.

At -1 Swede Jens Dantorp 71 71 73 and England's Jordan Matthew 69 73 73 are the five to break par.

Four others are at E and the rest of the field range from +2 all the way to a staggering +19 in sunny, breezy conditions that have dried out this tricky venue, with all it's elevation changes, bumps and hollows, and sloping greens.

First round leader with 68, veteran Nicolas Colsaerts said "anyone who breaks par on this course has played a very good round"

Sage advise, as he went on to shoot 82, 76 to place T51 at +10.

Canada's Aaron Cockerill is T25 70 74 78 +6 which normally would be disappointing, however on 6 shots over par after 54 holes this week is good.

WEATHER

Sunday, sunny and hot 31*c with with wind gusting 8-12mph WNW.

***** Anyone who breaks par will likely be the winner at the end of play, just as Colsaerts said away back on Thursday.

Two tied for halfway lead Hero Indian Open ..leaderboard

DP World Tour : Hero Indian Open Leaderboard

Defending champion Keita Nakajima continued his love affair with DLF Golf and Country Club as he fired a stunning second-round 66 to share the lead with Eugenio Chacarra at the halfway stage of the Hero Indian Open.

With the tricky host course showing its teeth on Friday, many of those who had gone low in round one found themselves slipping down the leaderboard.

Keita Nakajima and Eugenio Chacarra tied at the top in India

But Japanese star Nakajima made a huge move in the right direction in the afternoon, turning in 29 after carding seven birdies and no bogeys on the front nine.

He then mixed two birdies with three bogeys and produced some wonderful par saves on the homeward nine to head into the weekend on -4 alongside Chacarra after the pair had taken it in turns to lead for much of the afternoon.

Spain's Chacarra made six birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey in his 70.

The co-leaders were two shots clear of the large group in a tie for third on -2.

Nakajima said: "It was a great day and also it was so fun. Two rounds, so yeah, two more days.

"So my mindset changed. This is a tough course but a fun course. Me and my caddie were talking about playing it like a fun course. Just keep patient, and keep smiling. That was good.

"Maybe I will feel a little nervous tomorrow morning but I will try playing with a smile and also have fun. That'd be great."

edit ** Canada's Aaron Cockerill held his own for much of the day out in 36 with 2 birdies, 2 bogey's, he was all pars coming in until 2 bogey's at 16,17 saw he finish +2 74, but still T15 at E after 36 holes on a very difficult DLF golf course in New Delhi.

Brooke Henderson "Its been a while" T3 Ford Championship ... leaderboard

 LPGA : Ford Championship

I haven't gotten off to a fast start in a long time I'm excited" was how Brooke Henderson described her opening -7 65 at the Ford Championship on the Whirlwind GC in the Arizona desert near Chandler.

Brooke Henderson, of Canada, acknowledges the crowd as sinking her putt in the 18th hole during the third round action at the CP Women’s Open. (Adrian Wyld/CP)

Brooke Henderson, of Canada, acknowledges the crowd as sinking her putt in the 18th hole during the third round action at the CP Women’s Open. (Adrian Wyld/CP)

This was her lowest opening round since 2022 in France at the Evian Championship and to be honest we haven't had a lot  to shout about with Brooke in quite a while.

You can practice all you want but nothing builds confidence like winning  or at least competing, both have been missing after a poor year in 2024 and so far this season.

An eagle 3 at the par 5 12th,, her 3rd hole of the day, gave her that boost. "to eagle that 3rd hole of my round was definitely the start I was looking for. It gave me a little boost and some confidence for the rest of the day"

12/14 fairways and 17/18 greens is proof of that.

Charley Hull who made a $10,000 bet against herself that she wouldn't touch a smoke for 2 months is the leader with -9 63 There are 7 players at -7 with Dane, Nanna Madsen at -8.
