Curtis Cup steals the show, PGA Tour steals the money..

R&A : Curtis Cup :  GB&I 10.5 USA 9.5  Live Scoring

PGA Tour : Tour Championship Results

If ever there was a stark contrast in the game, it was on display this weekend.

Consider the emotions, both the absolute joy and despair and thus the drama of a closely contested Curtis Cup with the underdog GB&I crew winning at the death with Mimi Rhodes doing the honours for Catriona Matthew's brilliant young team, and setting off the wild celebrations in front of an adoring nation on one of Britain's historic courses at Sunningdale.

Now we turn our attention to the considerable lack of all the above as Scottie Scheffler aided and abetted by a detestable staggered scoring format put the topper on a historic 8 win season with an unemotional 4 shot victory, no drama, the only joy, in the households of the 30 players. their families, their team. Scheffler won the Players the Masters Olympic Gold and the Tour Championship on his way to $62.3m ....His caddie earned $5.2m.

The 25,000,000 he wins is just the rich getting richer, Fed Ex makes billions, they just gave away $100,000,000, most of it this weekend.

Not nearly in Scheffler's world, Canada's Taylor Pendrith got $905,000 for finishing T14 as he rounded out his best season as a pro.

I wrote about my opinion earlier this week its obvious a new format, or no format is required. some say match play for example, and I keep in mind 72 holes of stroke play doesn't usually result in wild celebration, and golf is not the most exciting sport to watch.

Now on an upnote, with Europe now holding the Curtis Cup, the Ryder Cup, the Junior Ryder Cup and the Solheim Cup,  it would be fitting and great for the game if Mike Weir and his International Team, playing at home here in Montreal, Canada, could beat Scheffler, Schauffele, Morikawa etal at the Presidents Cup later this month.

It's David vs Goliath again, and it never gets tired !!
