PGA Tour: RBC Canadian Open Leaderboard
With the haze of the forest fires consuming parts of Quebec, Nova Scotia, Northern Ontario and the stunning merger news hanging over the Oakdale GC, play gets underway at this edition of the RBC Canadian Open.
With the $9,000,000 purse ($1.62 winner ) being sandwiched between Jack's $20,000,000 Memorial and the US Open out in LA next week, I feared the worst for this field, however Rory decided to go for the three peat, and with Rose, Fitzpatrick, Fleetwood, Burns, Young, Hatton and Lowry top 30 players coming along there are enough under the sponsors umbrella to stop it from being a B field.
Also speaking of the sponsor, RBC will get the much coveted national TV coverage in the USA via CBS on the weekend, to help in giving them a bang for their buck.
I also expect Oakdale which is being converted to a combination of their 3 courses, to be an easier test than the Memorial last week which only yielded 7 strokes to par for the eventual winner Viktor Hovland.
WEATHER:
There isn't much rain in the forecast and today is the worst of the smoke days rated #9 out of 10. Warm, partly sunny all week with the breeze 8mph W, and showers expected (58%) on Friday.
